Military regains control of Nwe Tamael Village, seizes weapons and clears mines in Magway Region
· Eleven Media Group Co., LtdIt has been learned that military columns regained control of Nwe Tamael Village in Hsin Phyu Kyun Town, Salin Township, Magway Region, which had been temporarily controlled by PDFs, on January 10.
Subsequently, on January 11, during area clearance operations conducted by the military in Nwe Tamael Village, security forces seized one PDF body, four hand grenades, 11 homemade mines, two 40-mm grenades, one bulletproof vest, five ballistic helmets, four sets of guerrilla uniforms, three walkie-talkies, and one set of insignia.
In addition, it was discovered that the PDFs had established strong defensive positions inside the village by setting up bunkers, sandbags, and trenches within pagodas and stupas, Taung-U Monastery, Padetha Monastery, other religious buildings, government offices, the local middle school branch, as well as inside and around villagers’ homes and compounds. They were found to have used pagodas, religious buildings, rest halls, and schools as cover to launch defensive attacks, destroyed the village bridge with explosives and used it as a defensive barrier, and planted homemade mines within monastery compounds and along village roads.
It was also reported that security forces are currently carrying out mine-clearing operations within the village to eliminate the danger posed by homemade explosives.
