Singapore/Bhubaneswar: On day three of his 4-day Singapore visit, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi along with the Odisha delegation on Tuesday visited ITEES ( Institute of Technical Education and Educational Services).

Accompanied by ITEES CEO Suresh Natarajan, the CM also interacted with Odia students taking skill training there.

Majhi is leading the high-level delegation to Singapore, his first foreign visit after assuming the office in June, to showcase Odisha as a preferred investment destination. This is part of the government’s overseas outreach for the upcoming 2025 Utkarsh Odisha Global Investors Summit in January next year.

ITEES is a globally recognised leader in vocational education and technical training, playing a crucial role in Singapore’s workforce development strategy. The Odisha government had signed a MoU with it in November 2017. “As part of the collaboration, the Singapore based agency shares its experiences in technical and vocational training and provide consultancy support to the Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA), state’s nodal agency for skill development.”

According to sources, the high-level delegation from the state held discussions on how Odisha was emerging as the Skill Capital of India through global-standard initiatives, “Skilled in Odisha” setting benchmarks in national skill development programmes, and the focus on empowering youth of the state for global industrial opportunities.

They also touched upon plans to expand World Skill Centre and establish new training hubs.

Invitation was also extended to ITEES for the investors summit scheduled for January 28-29 in Bhubaneswar, sources added.

The CM will engage in one-on-one meetings with investors and industry associations to discuss potential collaborations. The delegation will also be meeting the Odia diaspora in Singapore to seek their inputs and support to take Odisha to the next level on the last two days of the visit.
