We, too, do not rule out the resumption of this trilateral format, but it is still too early to speak of the venue and exact dates,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, Reuters reported.

Meanwhile, nearly 5,000 people, including hundreds of foreign nationals, remain missing, while more than 13,000 have been rescued so far. Nepal Police has also urged people not to keep, sell or distribute gold, silver, cash and other valuables found after the floods, asking them to hand over such items to the nearest police office.
The August 26 flash floods were triggered by an avalanche of ice and rock near the Nepal-Tibet border, devastating towns and villages in northern and central Nepal. Floodwaters carried downstream by the Bhotekoshi River swept away homes, vehicles, roads and bridges and damaged hydropower projects.
The disaster has also raised concerns over Nepal’s crucial autumn tourism season. The government has launched a “Nepal Calling” campaign to reassure international visitors that the country remains open, while stressing that major tourist destinations and airports are functioning normally.

Green card alert for Indians: US says EB-1 category may run out before Sept 30
Indians waiting for a US green card under the EB-1 category may face a fresh setback, with the US State Department warning that the category could become unavailable before the fiscal year ends on September 30 because of high demand.
EB-1, or the employment-based first-preference green card, is used by priority workers, including people with extraordinary ability, outstanding professors or researchers, and some multinational executives or managers.
The alert by the US State Department appears in the September Visa Bulletin, which highlights that EB-1 could be temporarily unavailable for Indians in the coming weeks due to high demand. The bulletin states that the EB-1 tier might run out of India’s allocation ahead of the conclusion of America’s fiscal year on September 30.
In an update provided on the website, the State Department said, “High demand and number use by aliens chargeable to India in the EB-1 visa category may necessitate making the category unavailable in the coming weeks if India’s pro-rated limit in the EB-1 category is reached before the fiscal year ends.”
Final action dates are crucial for any visa applicant. These cutoff dates determine when an immigrant visa number is available, and a green card or permanent residency can be officially approved.

'It isn't a war': Pentagon allegedly refuses payout for US soldiers who died in Iran conflict
The United States military has been accused of refusing to pay soldiers' families who have died in the US-Israel war against Iran. The families of US soldiers who died in the US-Iran conflict have alleged that additional benefits were deemed ineligible because Congress had not officially declared it a war.
Widow of the deceased Major Alex Klinner, Libby Klinner, wrote in a social media post that the US Air Force adjudged her ineligible for additional benefits since Congress hasn't declared the US-Iran conflict an official war.
In a statement to AP, Libby Klinner said, "My husband lost his life because we’re in a war – and then I was told that because it’s not technically a war, we lose out on something. It all comes down to principle."
US-Iran war began on February 28, and since then, 18 US service members have lost their lives, and 780 have been wounded. The United States Air Force said Major Klinner's final pay cheque included combat-related tax breaks and hazard pay, The Telegraph UK reported.
"What this experience made clear to me is how difficult it can be for a grieving family to navigate classifications, terminology and government processes at the very moment we are least equipped to do so," Libby Klinner added.

Indian woman’s Moscow SOS: Husband held, Embassy seeks consular access
An Indian woman in Russia has raised an SOS call from Moscow after alleging that her husband was detained by Russian police and pressured to join the Russian military, prompting the Indian Embassy to seek consular access to him.
The woman, Sneha Gupta, who identifies herself as an advocate on her Instagram profile, made the allegations in a video posted on social media on Sunday.
In the video, Sneha identified her husband as Chandan Gupta, who, according to her, is an engineer from Kanpur. She claimed that her family was living in Moscow on his “highly qualified specialist” visa issued through a Noida-based company that employed him.
Sneha claimed that Russian police took her husband into custody around 12:30 am (local time) on Sunday, and that he was being held by Russian authorities despite “having committed no wrongdoing.” Alleging that her husband was being pressured to join the Russian military, Sneha said that a shortage of military personnel in Russia had led to attempts to recruit foreign nationals.
“We have seen a social media post by an Indian national regarding her husband. We are in touch with her and the local authorities in the matter. As per law enforcement authorities, it is a legal matter, and they are looking into it. The Embassy has also sought consular access,” the Embassy of India in Russia said in the X post.

India, Bangladesh likely to discuss resumption of passenger train services
India and Bangladesh are likely to discuss the resumption of cross-border passenger train services that have remained suspended since the political unrest in 2024, which toppled Sheikh Hasina‘s government. Freight train services between the two countries resumed in February last year following a nine-month suspension, but passenger services are yet to restart.
Bangladesh Railway officials are scheduled to hold a two-day meeting with their Indian counterparts in Dhaka starting Tuesday, according to news agency PTI. The possible resumption of the Maitree Express, Bandhan Express and Mitali Express will be among the key issues on the agenda during the Inter-Governmental Railway Meeting (IGRM).
“We are set to discuss matters relating to the re-launching of the railway services — Maitree, Bandhan, and Mitali Express — in the IGRM (Inter-Governmental Railway Meeting) starting tomorrow,” a Bangladesh railway official told PTI.
Bangladesh is also expected to propose a new rail route connecting Rajshahi city with Kolkata. Another proposal under consideration involves operating the Maitree Express between Dhaka and Kolkata via the newly constructed Padma Bridge instead of the Jamuna Bridge.

Indian, Chinese armies hold talks focusing on maintaining peace along LAC
The Indian and Chinese armies reviewed the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Arunachal Pradesh sector, days after the two sides held Special Representative talks in Beijing on the festering boundary question.
The focus of the corps commander-level talks at the Wacha-Damai border meeting point in Arunachal Pradesh's Kibithoo region was to maintain peace and tranquillity along the frontier, people familiar with the matter said.
The Indian delegation was headed by Lt General Girish Kalia, the commander of the Army's Dimapur-based 3 Corps.
There is no official word yet on the talks.
The meeting also came amid reports of aggressive military posturing by Chinese troops along the LAC in the Upper Subansiri region of Arunachal Pradesh.
In the Special Representative (SR) talks on August 25, India conveyed to China the importance of maintaining peace and tranquillity along the frontier for overall bilateral ties.

Tata-owned Jaguar Land Rover to cut 4,000 jobs globally
Tata Group's British luxury carmaker Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) will reduce its global workforce by around 4,000 roles over the next two years. This move is part of a strategic transformation to simplify operations and improve financial performance. Currently, JLR employs 43,000 people globally.
In an exchange filing on Monday, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited said that the workforce reduction is designed to support long-term sustainable growth amid increasing competition, rapidly changing markets and continued geopolitical uncertainty.
The company said the job cuts are not expected to impact direct manufacturing jobs. Wherever possible, the workforce reduction will be achieved through voluntary measures.
JLR has started consultations for the first round of job reductions. The company said it will provide support to employees affected by the changes and engage with trade unions and employee representatives during the transition.
The job cuts are part of JLR’s broader “Growth Reimagined” strategy, which was announced at the company’s Investor Day in June 2026. Under the programme, JLR is targeting approximately £1.7 billion in savings over the next two years. The company aims to reduce its break-even point towards around 300,000 vehicles.
“The savings are designed to enhance JLR’s ability to deliver sustainable profitable growth, against the backdrop of
an increasingly competitive and rapidly changing market and continuing geopolitical uncertainty. Young, charismatic, far-right: Meet Ulrich Siegmund, the man behind AfD’s Germany win and what it means
Ulrich Siegmund is a 35-year-old politician from the Alternative for Germany (AfD), the country’s far-right party. He leads the AfD in the eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt, where on Sunday the party won at least 44 per cent of the vote, according to exit polls cited by AFP, a historic result that could make Siegmund the first far-right leader of a German state since the Hitler era.
Born in Saxony-Anhalt in October 1990, just weeks after German reunification, Siegmund still lives in his hometown of Tangermünde with his wife and daughter. Before politics, he studied business psychology and ran a small company selling air fresheners.
The nickname comes from a Der Spiegel cover story last month, which put Siegmund’s face, designer stubble, neat quiff, direct stare under the German headline “Germany’s most dangerous man,” according to The Guardian.
Rather than distancing himself from it, Siegmund embraced it: he autographed copies for supporters and filmed himself signing one for his roughly 800,000 TikTok followers, as per the Guardian’s report.
Germany’s domestic intelligence agency classifies his AfD state chapter as right-wing extremist, citing links to ethno-nationalist groups.
In 2023, Siegmund attended a secret meeting near Berlin where far-right activists discussed a “remigration” plan to expel millions of people with immigrant backgrounds, a scandal that cost him a committee chairmanship at the time, though he has since dismissed it as a casual chat.
Several of his staffers and party colleagues previously belonged to a now-banned neo-Nazi youth group, which Siegmund has defended, telling the newspaper Welt he isn’t concerned with what happened decades ago.
He has pledged to deport undocumented migrants “from minute one” and wants to make Saxony-Anhalt less multicultural, less “woke,” and more overtly patriotic.

Israeli airstrikes kill 9 in Southern Lebanon, including women and child
Israeli airstrikes on Monday killed at least nine people in a southern Lebanese village. The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) carried out two airstrikes in a village that killed nine individuals, including women and children, Lebanon's health ministry said, AP reported.

Nepal floods: Death toll climbs to 1,355, nearly 5,000 still missing
The death toll from the devastating flash floods in Nepal has risen to 1,355 as more bodies were recovered from affected areas, authorities said.
Rescue teams are searching for 4,996 people who remain missing, including at least 589 foreign nationals, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA). So far, 13,396 people have been rescued.

Fireworks explosion at Mexico festival kills at least 10, injures 64
At least 10 people were killed and 64 others injured after pyrotechnic material exploded during a festival for a patron saint in Temascalcingo, Mexico, authorities said.
The explosion occurred on Saturday night next to the Nuestra Señora de la Luz church, where hundreds of people were preparing to watch a fireworks display as part of a religious festival. The blast also caused a wall to collapse.

Eight Indonesian airports, including two serving Jakarta, remained closed early on Monday morning because of volcanic ash from eruptions at Mount Anak Krakatau, the transport minister said.

Iran's top security chief Mohsen Rezaei on Sunday said his country would establish a "prohibited zone" near the strategic Strait of Hormuz, state media reported.

Hormuz traffic dips to lowest since May after US, Iranian strikes on ships
Ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has dropped to its lowest level since May, Reuters reports, after the United States and Iran struck tankers in the region over the weekend. Shipping data firm Kpler said an average of just 10 commodity ships passed through the strait each day over the last 10 days, down from more than 15 on Friday.

Oil extends gains after US and Iran strike ships
Oil prices extended gains on Monday as tit-for-tat strikes between the US and Iran on vessels sailing in the Strait of Hormuz and other areas heightened concerns of a prolonged supply disruption from the Middle East.
Brent crude futures climbed 52 cents, or 0.54%, to $96.80 a barrel by 2354 GMT while US West Texas Intermediate crude was at $92.14 a barrel, up 66 cents, or 0.72%.
Brent rose 7.8% last week while WTI gained nearly 10% after the US and Iran resumed attacks and caused a reduction in oil flows through the Hormuz strait where a fifth of the world's oil supply used to transit.
