BREAKING: Shocking REASONS Behind Dismissal of 9 Board Chairpersons By Mahama Revealed

The President dissolved the governing boards of the nine state-owned institutions with immediate effect, bringing the tenure of their respective board chairpersons and members to an end.
The affected institutions include some of Ghana’s most significant state enterprises and public bodies, including the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO), Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (CBG), Ghana Post Company Limited, TDC Ghana Limited, Prestea Sankofa Gold Limited, the Road Maintenance Trust Fund and the National Sports Authority.
Although the Presidency not given specific reasons for the dissolution of the nine boards, unofficial sources say the boards repeatedly interfered with day to day administration of their companies leading to turf war with the CEOs and management which affected delivery.
Sources in Jubilee House say the President ordered the Chief of Staff by a letter dated 21st May, 2026 with reference number SCR/DAH./39/016 ordered Boards to stay away from interfering in day to day management.
Despite that letter, some Chairpersons proceeded to request for and occupy office space where they “come to work daily”
The official communication from the President directed the relevant sector ministers to take the necessary steps to give effect to the decision.
The boards are expected to be reconstituted in due course, while the existing management teams will continue running the institutions.
The nine outgoing Board Chairpersons are:
1. Prof. Joseph Oteng-Adjei — GNPC
Former Energy Minister and Chairman of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation. No reasons were given but insiders there was alleged tensions with perceived interference in day to day management leading to friction.
2. Prof. Saint Kuttu — BOST
Associate Professor of Finance and Risk Management at the University of Ghana Business School and Chairman of BOST. He was allegedly removed for similar interference that allegedly led to frictions between management and board. He is one of the Board Chairman who reportedly wanted exclusive parking spot reserved among other issues that this portal has not verified.
3. Amb. Horace Nii Ayi Ankrah — VALCO
Deputy Ambassador to China and Chairman of the Volta Aluminium Company Limited and was appointed by President Mahama in 2025. He is said to have lost favour with the appointing authority after some actions and industrial actions by staff of VALCO.
4. Ernest Mawuli Agbesi — Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG)
He is a seasoned banker and former Managing Director of GCB Bank, who was appointed Chairman of CBG’s board in 2025.
5. Petra Aba Asamoah — Ghana Post
The only woman on the list, she is a Business executive and marketing professional who was appointed Chairperson of the Ghana Post governing board in August 2025.
6. Isaac Adjei Mensah — Road Maintenance Trust Fund
Member of Parliament for Wassa East and former Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways. No reasons are known but what is being speculated could be defamatory if we publish without verification.
7. Isaac Ashai Odamtten — TDC Ghana Limited
Member of Parliament for Tema East and former Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive.
8. Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore — Prestea Sankofa Gold Limited
Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who was appointed Chairman of the Prestea Sankofa Gold Limited board late 2025. Many issues reported by insiders.
9. Prof. Fred Awaah — National Sports Authority
Associate Professor of Public Administration at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), and Chairman of the NSA. He was dismissed after less than a year in office.
