Gbande denies any involvement in galamsey
by Ayeh Offei-Akoto · MyNewsGh.comDeputy General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has denied allegations that he is into illegal mining.
He made this known while responding to a post by an activist of the New Patriotic Party asking about his involvement in the illegal mining trade.
His comment read “I don’t do mining let alone do “galamsey” , we are in power and the minister for lands is a member of my government, it should not be a challenge is I approach him for a mining lease, however I don’t do that business.pls cross check properly so you are not misled by idiots”.
There are calls on the government to bring Kingpins to book rather than targeting the low-hanging fruit involved in destroying the environment.
A lead advocate against illegal mining, Senyo Hosi while speaking on Accra-based TV3 called on the current government to bring the big guns behind illegal mining to book.
He argued that Chairman Wontumi was fished out by advocates against illegal mining and it is imperative that the current government bring the people involved in the illegality to book.
Meanwhile, the Attorney General has asked EOCO to investigate Joseph Yamin and Abanga Yakubu over allegations that they are involved in galamsey.
