One arrested after man found with suspected gunshot wound in Mount Wellington

One person has been arrested after a man was found with a suspected gunshot wound in Auckland on Tuesday.

Emergency services found the seriously injured man at a property on Mount Wellington Highway just after 6.30am on Tuesday and took him to Auckland Hospital.

Senior Sergeant Michael Wickman said Police have now arrested one person, after searching a property on Ireland Road in Mount Wellington late on Tuesday night.

"As part of our enquiries to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident Police have been investigating a person and vehicle of interest," Wickman said, adding that some Police were armed as a precaution.

"Shortly before the search warrant was executed, a person has driven away from Ireland Road and has subsequently been taken into custody in Pakuranga without issue.

"Work continues, to determine the circumstances surrounding what has occurred."

Wickman thanked members of the public for their patience, and asked anyone with information that could assist in Police's enquiries to contact them.
