Man charged after storage unit search uncovers $200k meth haul
by Dylan Nicholson · Newcastle HeraldA 47-year-old man has been arrested after a police raid uncovered 1.4 kilograms of meth in a Lake Macqaurie storage unit.
Strike Force Prazz was established by the Hunter Region Enforcement Squad to investigate drug supply offences.
On Thursday, June 18, police executed a search warrant at a storage unit in Bennetts Green, where officers seized almost 1.4 kilograms of methamphetamine, with an estimated potential street value of $200,000.
After further inquiries, police went to a home in Belmont North about 9.15am on Monday. Peter Charles Ninnes was arrested at the home and taken to Belmont Police Station, where he was charged with supply prohibited drug - greater than large commercial quantity.
Ninnes was refused bail and appeared before Bail Division Court 2 on Tuesday. He was not required to enter a plea and did not make a release application.
He was formally remanded into custody and will appear in Newcastle Local Court on August 19.
