Party spirals out of control after 'uninvited' teenagers show up

by · Otago Daily Times Online News

Multiple fights and uninvited guests culminated in "extensive damage" to a home where a youth party with 150 people spiralled out of control.

Police received multiple reports about the house party in Howorth St, Fairfield, in Dunedin about 10.30pm on Saturday.

The party was "spilling out into the street with large disorder and multiple fights occurring", Acting Senior Sergeant Iain Notman said.

"The cause of the disorder was that numerous people had showed up uninvited."

There were about 150 youths, aged 16-17, at the address and out in the street.

All partygoers eventually moved on once police arrived.

However, there was "extensive damage" to the inside of the house.

No arrests were made at this stage, Notman said.
