Drunk men climbed crane at new hospital site, police say
by Tim Scott · Otago Daily Times Online NewsTwo young men were arrested after allegedly climbing to the top of a large crane at the new Dunedin hospital site while drunk.
Acting Senior Sergeant Iain Notman, of Dunedin, said police were called to the worksite for the inpatient building, about 3.30am on Saturday.
Officers discovered two 22-year-old men who had allegedly "scaled to the top of a large mobile crawler crane".
Both men were intoxicated, Acting Snr Sgt Notman said.
"Both climbed down and were arrested."
The pair would appear in the Dunedin District Court later this week, charged with unlawfully being in an enclosed yard, Acting Snr Sgt Notman said.
