Kim Soo Hyun’s agency speaks out after Kim Se Eui’s detention, “Thank you to our fans”
by Demian09 · allkpopActor Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, issued an official statement following the detention and referral of Kim Se Eui, head of the YouTube channel and media outlet Garosero Research Institute.
According to the Seoul Gangnam Police Station, Kim Se Eui was referred to prosecutors on June 4 on charges including violations of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes and defamation.
Kim is accused of spreading false allegations through YouTube and other platforms, claiming that Kim Soo Hyun had been in a relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor and that pressure from Kim Soo Hyun’s side to repay debts contributed to her death. He is also suspected of creating and distributing fake news by using artificial intelligence (AI) technology to manipulate and replicate Kim Sae Ron’s voice.
Earlier, the court issued an arrest warrant for Kim Se Eui, citing concerns over potential destruction of evidence and flight risk. Kim challenged the detention through a judicial review request, but the court rejected the appeal.
On June 5, Gold Medalist released a statement expressing gratitude to those who had supported Kim Soo Hyun throughout the legal process.
“Although they were not directly involved in the case, we sincerely thank everyone who continued to speak out on behalf of Kim Soo Hyun while respecting the legal procedures,” the agency said. “We are also grateful to those who worked diligently to uncover the truth through their own reporting and to everyone who helped ensure the facts of the case became widely known.”
The agency also extended special thanks to investigative and judicial authorities. “In particular, we deeply appreciate the investigative authorities who quietly fulfilled their responsibilities, conducted their work based solely on evidence and facts, and revealed the truth. We also thank the judicial authorities for making fair and rigorous decisions regarding the suspect’s detention,” the statement read.
Gold Medalist further expressed its appreciation to Kim Soo Hyun’s fans. “Above all, we sincerely thank the fans who have continued to support Kim Soo Hyun throughout this difficult period. Your trust and encouragement provided tremendous strength during challenging times.”
The agency revealed that police investigators had found grounds to support allegations against Kim Se Eui, including violations of the Information and Communications Network Act through defamation by false information, violations of the Anti-Stalking Act, violations of laws governing the distribution of illegally obtained or manipulated images and recordings, attempted coercion, and intimidation. Considering the seriousness of the case, police referred Kim to prosecutors while he remained in detention.
Gold Medalist concluded its statement by attaching the official police investigation results notice and thanking the public for their attention to the matter.
