'Culinary Class Wars 2' chef Lim Seong Geun addresses content theft, membership controversy

Chef Lim Seong Geun, who rose to fame as the so-called “Arrogant Sauce Master” through Netflix’s variety show 'Culinary Class Wars: Season 2,' has released an official statement regarding a series of recent sensitive issues, including unauthorized content use and the spread of misleading information.

On January 2, Lim’s YouTube channel, Imzzang TV, announced via a public notice that it had received more than 200 reports concerning channels that had illegally downloaded and reedited its content without permission.

The channel expressed sincere gratitude to subscribers for their efforts and continued interest in reporting such cases.

Imzzang TV also pointed out that some channels are uploading edited videos containing inaccurate information, urging viewers to rely only on information released through the official channel.

In particular, the team provided clarification regarding the controversial paid channel membership known as the “Gold Hand” tier. The membership, priced at 120,000 KRW (approx. 83.07 USD), grants access to professional, restaurant-use recipes only and does not include any option for Chef Lim to visit members’ businesses personally, the channel emphasized.

The statement further addressed rumors about donations from paid membership revenue. While it is true that a donation initiative is being considered once the channel reaches a certain subscriber milestone, the channel explained that current revenue is being used to cover production and operational costs.

As such, claims that all proceeds are currently being donated were explicitly denied.

Previously, Imzzang TV had already raised concerns over multiple channels unlawfully using its videos, citing violations of both copyright and portrait rights.
