The defense trial of a man in his 30s, identified as A, who has been indicted on charges of aggravated robbery and injury after allegedly breaking into the home of former After School member and actress Nana, resumed in court on the 4th.

The First Criminal Division of the Namyangju Branch of the Uijeongbu District Court had previously concluded arguments on May 19, but reopened proceedings ahead of sentencing to review additional matters.

According to prosecutors presented in court, A posted messages on an online forum on the same day he was arrested. The posts reportedly included questions such as, “What happens if a burglar trespassing into a house gets stabbed by the homeowner?” and “Is it possible to be detained following a warrant review for attempted special robbery?”

The content also allegedly described a scenario in which “the homeowner and their daughter were awake and told him not to call the police,” adding that the intruder was “stabbed in the face and repeatedly struck with fists,” and later “urgently transported for treatment.” Additional statements referenced that “the victim does not wish to press charges and is asking for leniency,” as well as inquiries about whether a warrant would be granted during judicial review.

Prosecutors emphasized that the posts were written on the day of arrest, a point also raised by the court, which directly questioned the defendant on his motive for publishing such content. In response, A argued that the posts were not written before the alleged crime. He claimed they were written while he was in police custody after the victim had already reached an agreement, stating he was “curious about potential legal consequences” and that he had not received clear answers to his questions.

Separately, A has been charged with breaking into Nana’s residence in Guri, Gyeonggi Province, in November last year, where he allegedly threatened Nana and her mother and demanded valuables.

Following the incident, A filed a counter-complaint accusing Nana of attempted murder, claiming he was injured during the process of being subdued. However, police ruled that Nana’s actions constituted legitimate self-defense and did not forward the case for prosecution. Nana has since filed a counter-lawsuit against A on charges of false accusation.
