Music maestro AR Rahman and his wife Saira Banu announced their separation after spending 29 years of marriage. After Saira Banu’s statement, now AR Rahman penned an emotional note on his X (formerly known as Twitter) as he confirmed the same. Amid the separation, celebrity lawyer Vandana Shah issued an official statement on behlaf of Saira. In one of the podcasts, she spoke her heart out about why divorces have become so common in the showbiz industry.

Vandana spoke about the causes of breakdowns in celebrity marriages as she said, 'Their lives are very different. I don’t think infidelity is the cause of most of those marriages; it is boredom. They have seen it all, so they move from one marriage to another because of boredom, which is not common in a normal person’s life'.

She continued saying, 'Also, the expectations from their sex lives are much higher in those setups than in a normal marriage. Adultery happens very often, but one-night stands are not a big issue. So, the main issues are boredom, feeling unimportant, and having to listen to people who are not involved in the marriage—it could be the mother, the brother, or the father-in-law'. Vandana also spoke about the interference from outsiders including spouses, mothers, brothers, and other family members. The celebrity lawyer gave an example of a South Indian couple where the interference of the father-in-law created an issued in their bond. Vandana said, 'There’s a South Indian couple where the father-in-law is pulling all the strings, and the daughter-in-law is not happy. Her husband is a tiger in bed and a tiger otherwise, but in front of his father, who is worth around ₹10,000 crore, he becomes like a cat'.
