The National Weather Service expects a moderate, northwest swell to produce elevated surf of 15 to 20 feet along the north shores of Kauai County, Oahu, Molokai and Maui today.
A high surf advisory has been issued for the north- and west-facing shores of smaller Hawaiian Islands through 6 p.m. Thursday.
The National Weather Service expects a moderate, northwest swell to produce elevated surf of 15 to 20 feet along the north shores of Kauai County, Oahu, Molokai and Maui today.
Forecasters expect another moderate, long-period, north-northwest swell to fill in tonight, keeping surf elevated through Thursday afternoon.
Surf along west shores is expected to be at 9 to 12 feet.
The public should beware of strong, breaking waves and strong currents along affected shores, which will make swimming dangerous.
“Heed all advice from ocean safety officials,” said NWS in a statement. “When in doubt, don’t go out.”
