AKKN celebrates silver jubilee

Dimapur, November 17: The Ayemi Kughuko Küghakulu, Nagaland (AKKN) observed silver jubilee on November 16 at Samson Phu, Agahuto, Chumukedima under the theme “Reclaim Our Roots”.

Chairman Howoto Avemi expressed gratitude to the pioneers of Ayemi who established the Ayemi Kughuko Küghakulu for their visionary role and legacy for the present generation, underscoring the importance of migration roots of the Ayemi clan and cordial relationships among Ayemi and Sumi communities.

He stated that the first gathering of Ayemi Kughuko Küghakulu took place on May 5, 1999, at Ex-Minister Kiyezhe Aye’s residence, where the Ayemi Kughuko Küghakulu, Nagaland, was established.

Tovihoto Ayemi, MLA and Advisor Tribal Affairs and Election delivered greetings congratulating AKKN on its silver jubilee. Emphasizing the jubilee theme “Reclaim our roots,” he supplemented Kakihe Ayemi’s suggestion on the importance of constituting a committee for researching Ayemi clan migration roots and history.

Tovihoto Ayemi emphasized that as a union, they must ponder how to bring Sumi people together, promote reconciliation, and shoulder responsibility among the Sumi tribe. He appealed to the Ayemi clan to be ambassadors of peace, unity, reconciliation, and upliftment, strengthening bonds and contributing to the Sumi community.

Hekani Ayemi Jakhalu, MLA and Advisor Industries and Commerce, said that they should remember and celebrate the pioneers and roots of the Ayemi clan, preserving their rich history. Jakhalu stated that the silver jubilee celebration signifies the maturity of Ayemi Kughuko Küghakulu.

She noted that the Ayemi clan is known for simplicity, humility, and straightforwardness, gifts from God. Therefore, they must continue carrying their forefathers’ legacy and put God first to seek blessings for the Ayemi clan and be torchbearers of the Sumi community.

Kakihe Ayemi, Additional Director of Tourism and Chairman of Tuku Kughuko Kuposhukulu, spoke on the theme “Reclaim our roots.” He stated that through oral tradition, their rich history and tradition have been preserved till today, and it is essential to conduct thorough research and documentation of the Ayemi clan’s migration roots to preserve their legacy. He added that the Nagas and Sumis tribe emerged through cross-migration, according to research studies. Kakihe Ayemi suggested that the Ayemi Kughuko Küghakulu, Nagaland, officially constitute a committee for researching Ayemi clan migration roots.

The Ayemi Kughuko Küghakulu Nagaland monolith of the 25th silver jubilee stone was unveiled and dedicated by Rev. Dr. Kashito Ayemi at Samson Phu. Tovihoto Ayemi officially released the souvenir of the silver jubilee (1999-2024). Zhevishe Ayemi, retired Commandant, NAP, released the second edition of Ayemi Kughuko Xüle 2024.
