State Level Faculty Development Programme underway at DGC

Dimapur, November 8: A One Week State Level Faculty Development Programme (FDP) from November 7 to 13 on the theme, “Envisioning Learning Spectrum” has been organized by NAAC Steering Committee and Research & Development Cell, Dimapur Government College (DGC) in collaboration with Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Nagaland, in association with Bank of Baroda, Dimapur and supported by Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), DGC.

The Faculty Development Programme is been conducted and available both online and offline mode.

The inaugural session was chaired by Sedevino Jakhalu, HoD, Political Science, DGC and welcome address by Dr. Vinyuhu Lhoungu, Coordinator, IQAC. Er. Daniel Meren, Additional Director, NIELIT, Dimapur, the resource person of the first session spoke on ‘Artificial Intelligence Tools in Teaching Learning’. He focused his talk on different aspects and tools that can be used in educational settings to improve efficiency and engagement and also that has the potential to transform educational approaches.

The second session was chaired by Dr. I. Moakala, Department of Economics with Lezo Putsure, Founder CEO, Educentre School of Business, Dimapur as the resource person. ‘Entrepreneurship’ was the topic of discussion where the speaker through his experiences shared on how to think like an entrepreneur by viewing every problem as a great opportunity. He also talked on how there was no dearth of avenues and the role educators can play to help guide the younger generation towards entrepreneurship and not to only depend on government jobs.

Day two: The third session had Dr. Meripeni Ngully, HoD, History as the chairperson and Dr. I. Wati Imchen, Principal, Fazl Ali College Mokokchung as the resource person. Speaking on ‘Career Progression in Higher Education’, the speaker underscored the promising nature of the profession in higher education for those who are dedicated and committed. He highlighted on how to navigate the challenges in the changing educational landscape, tips to navigate the process and reminded everyone of the code of professional ethics.

Lily Rino, Department of History chaired the fourth session with Prof. Shiv Shankar Das, Senior Manager, NPTEL & BS Program Office, IIT, Madras as resource person. Speaking on ‘SWAYAM NPTEL Awareness’ Prof. Shiv Shankar Das pointed out how SWAYAM-NPTEL an initiative of the MoE, Government of India, following the MOOCs format provides online courses. Pointing out the benefits of NPTEL courses, he mentioned various NPTEL initiatives and how to enroll for certification.

Each session of the FDP concludes with a Q&A time where the participants gets to discuss the topic and their queries, if any. The remaining sessions of FDP would be continued next week with various other resource persons. (Page News Service)
