Chaga Gadi cum mini Hornbill festival concludes at Nzau village
· Nagaland PageDimapur, November 1: The two-day long celebration of Chaga Gadi Cum Mini Hornbill festival with the theme ‘ ‘Celebrating our Roots’, concluded at Nzau village, under Tening subdivision, Peren on October 31 with Deputy Chief Minister, Planning and Transformation & National Highway, TR. Zeliang and Minister for Tourism & Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along as the special guests.
Addressing the gathering Minister, Imna Along lauded the present Government under the leadership of CM, Neiphiu Rio and Dy. CM, TR. Zeliang and Y. Patton, the Tourism department has got the privilege to participate in the Chaga Gadi celebration which is one of the biggest festival of the Zeliang community. He encouraged the people to create happiness and appreciate one another through culture, traditions, religions and ways of living. Along called for preservation of the rich cultural & traditional heritage and let the spirit of oneness prevail among the community.
Reflecting on the use of “Zeliangrong” in the songs and dances showcased at the event, Deputy CM, TR Zeliang called for unity and collaboration within the community, urging them to transcend divisive boundaries. He emphasized the need to heal from the current fragmentation by striving to create a common platform where culture and traditions embodied through songs and dances, the lifeblood of any community’s heritage can be preserved Zeliang added.
The day’s events featured introduction and presentation, cultural dances, choreography, folk songs presentation and indigenous games.
The formal program was compered by Adithbo Chewang and Silubui Namdau while the vote of thanks and welcome address was delivered by Secretary, organizing committee, Thulengsipi and convenor, organising committee, Ramzankam Nbung respectively.
