Kohima, November 8: A three day long Mission Conference 2024 of the Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) under the theme “God’s Mission, Our Task” commenced today at Phek Town Baptist Church.

Speaking at the introductory service, CBCC Executive Secretary Rev. Dr. Chekrovei Cho-o talked on the topic “God’s Mission, God’s Call.”

He said that those who passionately support the mission of God are equally praiseworthy.

He said that “Mission is not only a very familiar word to us but also our favourite word or activity. So, we’re all involved in it directly or indirectly.”

However, there’s a need to dig deeper and explore further the biblical foundation for missions.

He said that the entire plan, process, and work of God to save humanity from the bondage of sin in order to form a covenant community that is sent to be God’s witnesses and agents as light to the nations and salt of the earth in all places at all times.

God never intends us to have our own mission fields and do our own mission in the name of God. There’s only one mission, and that is God’s mission, he said.

There’s no one who is not called to God’s mission. Therefore, God’s call comes in singular form but our callings come in plural form, Rev. Dr. Cho-o said.

“God empowers us for His Mission: We have a tendency to think that, we work for God in missions. Mission is not what we do for God but what God does in us and with us, he said.

“What we do in missions is God’s mission. We do what we do because God calls us to do the same. And we’re able to do what we because God empowers us to fulfil his plans for the nations in us and through us,” Rev. Dr.. Cho-o said.

Further, he challenged the congregation “to do His mission so that He may find us faithful.”
