The attacks, which began as isolated incidents in October, have escalated into a pattern of nighttime killings with many now calling for the army to be deployed to help the police locate the suspects.

The victims were a mother and her daughter, a Form Three student. Another child survived by hiding under a bed during the attack.

The latest incident brings the number of people killed in the area to 12.

Mashonaland Central provincial police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembe confirmed the killings and said investigations were underway.
