Continuing its official partnership with The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Piaget has unveiled the Andy Warhol “Camouflage” limited edition watch.
Following the “Collage” series last year, this second collaboration draws direct inspiration from a series of self-portraits Warhol created in 1986, which explored the dual nature of fame by obscuring the artist’s face behind bold, brightly colored camouflage. Piaget secured the exclusive licensing rights to use Warhol’s name in 2024, renaming the collection – previously known as the Black Tie Vintage since 2014 – to honor the pop art icon, who was a passionate collector and owned seven Piaget models.
For this release, Piaget deconstructed Warhol’s 1986 self-portraits through the contemporary lens of haute horlogerie. The striking camouflage dial is a masterclass in ornamental stone marquetry, requiring over 100 hours of labor to design, research, and assemble. The abstract pattern is formed from 27 individual pieces, pairing the deep, chromatic blues of cerulean turquoise and oceanic sodalite with the contrasting textures of satin-finished gold and shiny rose gold. Framing this intricate artwork is the model’s iconic 45mm cushion-shaped case, rendered in white gold and detailed with signature gadroons.
The Andy Warhol “Camouflage” is powered by Piaget’s self-winding manufacture movement, the 501 P1, driving a set of elegant dauphine hands. Flipping over the white gold case reveals Andy Warhol’s famous signature engraved on the caseback, alongside the specific edition number. Production of this highly intricate, art-forward timepiece is strictly limited to 86 pieces worldwide. For more information, head over to Piager’s official website or physical boutiques.
