How the office became a lonely, joyless place

Just three decades ago, it would have been incredibly unusual for a worker to arrive at the office, sit down at a desk just two metres from a colleague and message them on their computer before speaking to them in person. Today, it doesn’t raise an eyebrow.
A poll of 2000 UK office workers commissioned by the training platform Kahoot! in June found that 52 per cent regularly message colleagues sitting in the same room.
