Di Pilla’s data centre dream comes unstuck in middle-class Los Angeles

Film and television writer and director Steven J. Kung first heard about a proposal by the David Di Pilla-backed DigiCo to build a data centre in his Los Angeles neighbourhood late last year on Instagram.

A post urged residents of Monterey Park, a 15-minute drive east of downtown Los Angeles, to attend a December council meeting to protest a data centre the size of four football fields that was on the verge of approval.
