Video: Man drags girlfriend on bike after she forces him to marry, beaten by locals

A shocking video from Bihar's Nalanda has gone viral, showing a woman screaming for help as she is dragged for nearly 100 metres by a moving motorcycle driven by her boyfriend after she insisted that he marry her following their five-year relationship, a demand he refused.

A shocking video from Bihar's Nalanda district has gone viral, showing a woman screaming for help as she is dragged for nearly 100 metres by a moving bike driven by her boyfriend after she pressed him to marry her and he refused.

The video, recorded by a passer-by, shows the woman desperately clinging to the motorcycle as the man speeds away instead of stopping, leaving her sprawled on the road, while locals watch in horror. The motorcycle eventually loses balance and both fall, following which locals surround, confront and thrash the man.

According to police, the man then claimed the woman was his wife and described the episode as a domestic dispute in an attempt to calm the angry crowd and avoid being assaulted further.

Police said the two had been in a relationship for around five years. The accused, who works as an Amin (land survey official) in Nawada district's Nardiganj, had reportedly come to Rajgir to meet the woman a few days ago.

During the meeting, the woman allegedly insisted that he marry her, triggering an argument. As the dispute escalated, the accused tried to flee on his motorcycle. When the woman attempted to stop him by holding onto the bike, he accelerated instead of stopping, dragging her along the road for nearly 100 metres as seen in the video.

Rajgir Police Station SHO Abhijeet Kumar said the incident was linked to a marriage dispute and confirmed that the accused is a government employee.

The woman has filed a written complaint at the Nardiganj police station in Nawada district. Police said further action will be taken based on her complaint, witness statements and the viral video.
