A drunken brawl in Uttarakhand's Tehri Garhwal district left several locals injured after they were allegedly assaulted by six tourists from Delhi.

The group attacked the locals after getting drunk during their journey. A video of the incident has gone viral, triggering widespread outrage on social media.

In the video, the tourists, including a woman and a shirtless man, are seen punching, slapping and kicking the locals in a parking lot. At one point, the shirtless man picks up a large boulder and appears to hurl it at one of the locals. Even after the man collapses to the ground, the group continues to kick and assault him.

Police personnel rushed to the spot and first shifted the injured victims to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shweta Chaubey said that after ensuring the injured received medical attention, officers immediately launched a search operation to trace the suspects, who had fled the scene.

The six tourists accused of assaulting the locals were also taken into custody for creating public nuisance while intoxicated under Section 81 of the Uttarakhand Police Act.

SSP Chaubey said the police would continue taking strict action against anyone found disturbing law and order or disrupting public peace.

"Strict action against those who violate law and order and disturb public peace will continue in the future as well," she said.

The police also appealed to the public to promptly report any untoward incident or information related to law and order so that timely and effective action can be taken.
