A 28-year-old man, Mohan Yadav, allegedly killed his 51-year-old mother, Mula Devi, with an axe in Uttar Pradesh's Mahoba district after she refused to give him Rs 60 to buy ganja. Police said he repeatedly attacked her on the neck before remaining near her body for about two hours.

A 28-year-old man allegedly killed his 51-year-old mother with an axe in Uttar Pradesh's Mahoba district after she refused to give him Rs 60 to buy ganja. The accused, identified as Mohan Yadav, attacked his mother Mula Devi repeatedly on the neck and remained seated near her body for around two hours after the killing. Police have taken him into custody.

The incident took place when no one else was present at the house. Mohan, who was addicted to cannabis, used to harass his mother regularly for money to buy drugs. On the day of the incident, he again asked her for Rs 60. When Mula Devi said she did not have the money, Mohan lost his temper, picked up an axe kept inside the house and attacked her.

According to the information provided, Mohan struck his mother more than five times on the neck. Mula Devi died at the spot from her injuries.

The incident came to light when Mohan's uncle, Rameshwar, reached the house. Around the same time, Mula Devi's elder son, Sohan Yadav, arrived from Noida in connection with his wife's delivery. As soon as Sohan entered the house, he found his mother lying in a pool of blood.

Hearing the cries, nearby villagers gathered at the spot and immediately informed the police.

Police official Awadhesh Mishra reached the spot with a police team after receiving the information. A forensic team also collected important evidence from the crime scene.

Police completed the inquest proceedings and sent Mula Devi's body for post-mortem examination. The police also took Mohan Yadav into custody and are questioning him.
