A 73-year-old man was caught after a car he was driving hit a motorcycle and dragged it for several metres in Delhi's RK Puram area, police said.

The incident took place at around 10:22 pm on Thursday. A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media, showing a car dragging a motorcycle for several metres before people stopped the vehicle.

According to Delhi Police, the inquiry revealed that Tanish Tokas was sitting on a parked vehicle on the side of the road when a motorcycle was hit by a blue-coloured Honda Amaze. The car was being driven by Venu Gopal, 73, a resident of Vasant Kunj.

Due to the impact, Tokas fell from the motorcycle. The Honda Amaze then dragged the motorcycle for a few metres.

Police said Tokas did not sustain any serious injuries in the incident.

The accused driver, Venu Gopal, has been arrested, Delhi Police said. The offending vehicle has also been seized after an FIR was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Delhi Police further said that the accused driver was examined, and no alcohol was detected.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.
