The first suspension notice, issued on April 20, targeted one student and mentioned misconduct such as defamation of the institution and offensive language.

A second notice later named 14 students for alleged indiscipline, physical violence, and disturbance during the fest. Additional notices followed, eventually taking the total number of suspended students to around 30.

One notice dated April 25 confirmed that four student union office-bearers were suspended with immediate effect, pending disciplinary proceedings.

HOW HAVE STUDENT LEADERS REACTED?

The move has sparked outrage from the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU), which strongly criticised the administration’s decision.

DUSU President Aryaman Sai described the suspensions as a “brazen attack on student democracy” and accused the administration of misusing power.

"Campuses are meant for dissent, dialogue, and accountability, not authoritarian crackdowns. Students will not be bullied. Students will not be silenced," Aryaman Sai told ANI.

He questioned whether the elected representatives were being punished for raising student issues and exposing administrative shortcomings. He further alleged that the action was aimed at weakening student leadership and suppressing dissent on campus.
