'Is it the new iPhone?' Thieves ask Greater Noida woman before snatching iPhone 18 Pro

The incident took place when Shubhi Bhandari had taken out her phone to make an online payment when two helmet-wearing thieves on a motorcycle approached her.

A woman in Greater Noida West lost her brand-new iPhone 18 Pro to two bike-borne thieves after they first asked her whether the phone was the newly launched model and then snatched it from her hand.

The incident took place when Shubhi Bhandari was travelling to work in an e-rickshaw. She had taken out her phone to make an online payment when the helmet-wearing thieves approached from behind.

According to Bhandari, the men initially asked her for her address. They then noticed the phone in her hand and asked if it was the new iPhone.

When she replied that it was, the two men snatched the phone and sped away on their motorcycle.

The phone had been bought just three days earlier, according to Bhandari's husband, Saket Gupta.

The sequence of events has left the victim's family particularly concerned, as the suspects appeared to first identify the phone before taking it.

The family subsequently filed a police complaint. They also expressed concern over the lack of visible police presence on major roads during the morning hours, saying this has added to concerns over such incidents.

Police are examining CCTV footage from cameras installed around the area and are trying to identify the suspects based on the footage and other evidence.
