A dead lizard was allegedly found in a batch of sambhar served to students at a government school in Tamil Nadu's Tiruvallur district on Friday. Around 40 students reportedly fell ill after consuming the food.

They were rushed to a hospital, purportedly after developing symptoms such as vomiting and dizziness. The incident occurred at a village school where about 50 students are enrolled.

Nearly 40 of them had breakfast at the school on Friday under the state-level free breakfast scheme. According to reports, a dead lizard was later found in the sambhar served to the children.

Following this, some of them complained of vomiting and dizziness, triggering panic in the area.

All the children who consumed the breakfast items were subsequently taken to a government hospital for treatment.
