Russian overnight strikes kill seven across Ukraine, children among dead

Russian forces launched overnight strikes across multiple Ukrainian cities, killing seven and injuring dozens. The attacks deepened civilian losses and underscored the intensifying summer bombardment.

Russian attacks across Ukraine overnight into Thursday killed at least seven people and wounded dozens, officials said, with the heaviest casualties reported in the Dnipropetrovsk and Lviv regions.

The strikes were the latest in a series of large-scale Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities that have intensified over the summer and are now taking place on a nearly weekly basis.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, Russian forces carried out what officials described as a mass attack, killing six people, wounding 10 and damaging or destroying civilian infrastructure, according to Oleksandr Hanzha, head of the regional military administration. He said children were among the dead in the Kryvyi Rih area, including a six-year-old girl and boys aged 11 and 17.

In Lviv, the number of people injured in a Russian missile strike rose to 30 as rescue work continued, said Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the regional military administration. Lviv Mayor Andrii Sadovyi said the city was hit at about 4.45 am, with the worst damage reported in two residential buildings. He said more than 20 residential buildings were damaged, along with a school and two kindergartens, and added that children were among the injured, including one who was taken to hospital.

In Kyiv, Russian forces struck the capital with ballistic missiles, killing a 31-year-old man and injuring two others, the National Police press service said. Police said residential buildings, a market, a garage cooperative, storage facilities and vehicles were damaged. In the Kyiv region, five people were injured in the Brovary district, including a minor and two women, acting regional administration head Ruslan Oliinyk said on Facebook.

Overall, the overnight attacks left at least seven people dead and dozens injured across several parts of Ukraine, with damage reported to homes, education facilities, vehicles and other civilian sites.
