A 65-year-old retired Army personnel was found dead at his home in Rajasthan's Anupgarh, with an eight-page suicide note alleging prolonged harassment by three individuals and accusing one of them of being a Pakistani spy. Police have launched an investigation, stressing that the allegations will be verified before any conclusions are drawn.

According to police, Amar Singh, died by suicide on Saturday by hanging himself at his residence. Officers reached the spot, completed the necessary legal formalities and sent the body for post-mortem. The body was handed over to the family on Sunday after the examination.

In the suicide note, Amar Singh alleged that three people had been mentally harassing him for a long time. He claimed that one of them repeatedly sought information related to the Indian Army and military activities. Referring to the individual as a Pakistani spy, he wrote that he could never betray the country and would rather sacrifice his life than reveal confidential military information.

The final page of the note urged police to take strict action against those he held responsible for his death. Amar Singh also claimed he feared that the accused could abduct him to obtain sensitive information about the Army, adding that this fear and sustained mental pressure drove him to take the extreme step.

Station House Officer Kartar Singh said the case is sensitive and is being investigated from all angles. He said it would be inappropriate to comment on the allegations before the investigation is completed, adding that the claims made in the suicide note would be verified during the probe.

Meanwhile, former councillor Paramjeet Kaur, whom Amar Singh referred to as his sister in the suicide note, said he had called her three days before his death to complain about persistent harassment by some individuals. She said he appeared to be under severe stress due to alleged threatening phone calls.
