2 dead as 7-storey under-construction structure collapses onto another apartment

A seven-storey building under construction collapsed in Madhapur's Anjaiah Nagar and crashed into a neighbouring apartment. 2 were dead and several people suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital.

A seven-storey building under construction collapsed in Hyderabad’s Madhapur area, killing two workers and damaging a neighbouring apartment.

The building was allegedly being constructed illegally on a 50-square-yard plot located beside a nala. The structure suddenly collapsed and fell onto the adjacent apartment, causing damage to the neighbouring building.

TWO WORKERS TRAPPED UNDER DEBRIS

Police recovered the bodies of two workers who were trapped under the debris following the collapse. The deceased, identified as Mahtab and Umesh, were from Madhya Pradesh and were reportedly laying tiles when the building collapsed.

Several people in the neighbouring building also sustained minor injuries and were shifted to a hospital for treatment.

BUILDER, OWNER IDENTIFIED

The building’s builder has been identified as Sadiq, while the owner has been identified as Khaja.

Locals said construction of the building had begun around eight to nine months ago.

Rescue operations are underway at the site.
