Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday praised his ministers during the cabinet meeting for their collective efforts in ensuring that the NEET re-exam 2026 was conducted smoothly without any issues.
PM Modi said that the entire process reflected a “whole-of-government” approach, where different departments worked together towards a common goal.
The Prime Minister advised that this model of coordination should be adopted on every occasion. He added that when everyone works together, any challenge can be faced and overcome.
EDUCATION MINISTER ON NEET RE-TEST
Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan recently spoke to India Today, highlighting the collective efforts of students, parents, teachers, invigilators, district administrations, and security personnel in ensuring the smooth conduct of this year’s NEET exam.
“Students did their duty. Parents did theirs. Teachers, invigilators, district administrations, and security personnel did theirs. This year's NEET was a collective achievement,” Pradhan said.
Beyond the political discussions surrounding the exam, the interview also carried a significant policy update for lakhs of medical aspirants. Pradhan said that NEET is likely to shift to a computer-based test format from next year and advised students to start preparing for the transition.
“I want to tell students, parents, and everyone associated with education that next year's NEET will likely be conducted as a computer-based test. Students should begin preparing for it now,” he said.
NEET UG RE-TEST 2026
The NEET UG re-test concluded on Sunday, June 21, marking the end of a crucial day for around 22 lakh medical aspirants. For many candidates, the exam was more than just another entrance test; it was a second attempt filled with months of preparation, stress, and uncertainty after already appearing for one of India’s biggest medical entrance exams.
The day was not only about question papers, answer sheets, and tight security arrangements. Across 5,440 exam centres in India and 14 centres abroad, the re-test also reflected the determination of students, the anxiety of parents, and the emotions that come with one of the country’s most competitive examinations.
