A Junior Commissioned Officer of the Defence Security Corps accidentally died during firing practice on Friday at the Pulgaon firing range of the Central Ammunition Depot in Maharashtra’s Wardha district.

The officer is identified as Om Bahadur Khand, who held the designation of Subedar Major, the highest among the Junior Commissioned Officers.

"It is regretfully informed that during a routine firing practice at Central Ammunition Depot, Pulgaon, on May 15, 2026, a Defence Security Corps Junior Commissioned Officer, Subedar Major Om Bahadur Khand, died due to a firing accident on the firing range," a press release by the Defence PRO said.

According to a report by news agency ANI, the unit of Om Bahadur also extended its condolences to the family members of the deceased army man.

Meanwhile, a probe has been launched, and the matter is under investigation now.
