Delhi University student crashes car into workers under Dwarka Expressway, 2 dead

Two labourers were killed and two critically injured after a speeding car driven by a 20-year-old Delhi University student hit workers installing an iron grille under the Dwarka Expressway in Gurugram.

Two labourers were killed, and two others were critically injured after a Delhi University student rammed a speeding car into a group of workers installing an iron grille under the Dwarka Expressway in Gurugram late Wednesday night.

The accident took place beneath the Dwarka Expressway flyover. The workers were carrying out iron grille installation work when a white car travelling at high speed from the Delhi direction, hit them.

The impact killed two labourers, Bijendra, aged around 58-60, and Pappu Singh, also aged around 58-60, both residents of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh. They died at the spot.

Two other workers, Satish Chand, 45, and Ram Kumar, 28, sustained serious injuries. Police rushed the injured workers to a nearby private hospital, where they were admitted for treatment. Their condition was reported to be critical.

The car was being driven by 20-year-old Vedan Khanna, a Delhi University student. He also sustained injuries in the accident and was referred to Fortis Hospital after receiving primary treatment.

The collision caused panic in the area. Police reached the spot soon after receiving information about the accident and took the bodies into custody.

Police also collected a blood sample from the driver to determine whether he had consumed alcohol at the time of the crash. Legal action has been initiated in connection with the incident, and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
