A massive fire broke out at the abandoned Kingdom of Dreams recreational complex in Gurugram's Sector 29 on Wednesday, sending thick plumes of black smoke into the sky and triggering panic among residents in the surrounding areas. Multiple fire tenders were rushed to the spot as firefighters battled the blaze for several hours before bringing it under control.

According to Fire Officer Naresh Kumar, at least five to six fire department vehicles were immediately dispatched after smoke was noticed rising from the structure.

"Our office is located right behind this building, less than half a kilometre away, which is how we noticed the smoke rising. There was a massive column of smoke originating from the thermocol installed at the front of the structure. I immediately dispatched five or six of our vehicles all at once," he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

He said the fire appeared to have originated in thermocol installed at the front portion of the building, although the exact cause remains unknown and will be determined after an investigation.

He added that the abandoned facility had caught fire once before during the night and reiterated that there were no injuries because the complex had been closed for a long time.

Describing the present condition of the property, he said the structure has been reduced to little more than a heap of scrap.

The latest incident has once again brought attention to the deteriorating condition of the Kingdom of Dreams, which was once regarded as one of Gurugram's premier entertainment and tourism destinations.

Repeated fire incidents at the property have raised concerns about whether the blazes are the result of negligence, poor maintenance, or other factors that require closer scrutiny by investigating agencies.

The fire comes a day after another major blaze was reported at a warehouse in Gurugram's Jhund Sarai area on Tuesday night. Fire officials had confirmed that no casualties were reported in that incident either.
