A minor dispute in Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar turned deadly after a 16-year-old boy was allegedly shot and stabbed to death in the Lal Bagh jhuggi cluster in the early hours of August 13. The police have booked local resident Aman alias Mulla and an associate in connection with the murder, while both accused remain absconding.

The incident came to light after two Police Control Room (PCR) calls were received at Adarsh Nagar police station around 12.15 am and 12.33 am, reporting firing and a stabbing in Azadpur.

Police personnel rushed to the spot, while the SHO reached BJRM Hospital. The victim, identified as Neeraj alias Neeja, a resident of the Lal Bagh jhuggis, was declared brought dead by doctors. He had suffered both firearm and stab injuries.

According to the preliminary investigation, Neeraj had earlier been involved in an altercation with Aman alias Mulla, described by police as a local bad character, and another man.

Eyewitness Sahil told investigators that the dispute was followed by a fresh confrontation when he and Neeraj were returning home. Aman and his associate allegedly approached them and opened fire at Neeraj.

Sahil said he fled immediately after the firing. When he later returned to the area, he found Neeraj lying injured in a lane and alerted the police.

The sequence indicates that the attack involved both shooting and stabbing, though investigators are still examining the exact circumstances and motive behind the escalation of the dispute.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act.

The crime and forensic science teams examined the scene and collected exhibits, while senior police officers also visited the area as part of the investigation.

Police teams are conducting searches to trace Aman and his associate and are questioning people who may have witnessed the incident or have information about the accused.

Further forensic examination and statements from witnesses are expected to help establish the precise sequence of events. The immediate priority for the Adarsh Nagar police is to apprehend the two suspects and determine the motive behind the fatal attack.
