Jaipur woman plots husband's murder with boyfriend, poisons his juice

A woman and her purported lover have been arrested for allegedly killing her husband by poisoning him in Jaipur. Police said the death, initially treated as a natural death, was the result of a pre-planned conspiracy.

The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Mahesh Meena. His wife, Kavita Meena, 23, allegedly mixed poison in a glass of juice and gave it to him as part of a conspiracy she had devised with her boyfriend, Ganesh Meena, 27.

She allegedly took Mahesh on a motorcycle on August 5 on the pretext of getting medicines, officials said. Police claim that the woman mixed poison in juice and gave it to Mahesh as part of the criminal scheme.

Mahesh's condition deteriorated after consuming the drink. Kavita then allegedly called Ganesh to the spot. According to the police,she and Ganesh subsequently took Mahesh on a motorcycle towards a bridge.

Police suspect that the move was intended to make the incident appear to be a death caused by illness rather than a planned killing.

Kavita allegedly called Mahesh's brother, Manish, and told him that his health had deteriorated, asking him to come to the spot. Mahesh was subsequently taken to a private hospital where doctors declared him dead.

The circumstances surrounding the death subsequently raised suspicion among Mahesh's family members. They subsequently approached the police. The family expressed suspicion that Kavita and her alleged associates could have been involved in Mahesh's death.

Considering the seriousness of the case, a special team was constituted. Police examined CCTV footage, linked evidence and questioned the suspects before arresting Kavita and Ganesh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Jaipur West) Prashant Kiran said.
