A video showing a woman police officer being slapped in Patna has gone viral on social media, leading to the arrest of a 22-year-old man. The accused has been identified as Pradeep Kumar.

The police are on the lookout for two other men in the case. The incident took place around 8.30 pm on Wednesday, September 30.

According to the police, sub-inspector (SI) Priyanka Anand and four other policewomen were on patrol duty on scooters when the three men taunted them.

When SI Priyanka Anana subsequently went to confront them, one of the accused slapped her, officials said. The footage circulating on social media shows an argument between the two sides before the scuffle broke out.

The group of men fled the spot when the police team tried to overpower them, officials added.

The viral video, however, apparently shows the woman SI slapping the man first. A case was registered in connection with the matter later that same day.

Initially, the FIR was filed against multiple unidentified persons for allegedly misbehaving and rough-handling the female police personnel, with sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) invoked against them.

Later, the police analysed CCTV footage to identify and arrest Kumar. Police are conducting further investigation and taking steps to arrest the remaining accused.
