Gurugram hit-and-run accused Kalyan, Lavnish Bainsla sent to 14-day judicial custody

A Gurugram court sent Kalyan Bainsla and Lavnish to 14-day judicial custody in the Golf Course Road hit-and-run case. Police are now seeking club CCTV footage and questioning others in the vehicle to reconstruct the events before and after the altercation.

Kalyan Bainsla and Lavnish, the two accused in the Gurugram Golf Course Road hit-and-run case, have been sent to 14-day judicial custody. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for October 1, 2026.

The development came as the Gurugram Police continued its investigation into the incident, including the movements of the accused before the altercation on Golf Course Road.

The accused had visited Empire Club Bar and Lounge in Sector 25, Gurugram, on the night of the incident. According to the information available to investigators, Kalyan Bainsla arrived at the club with three friends at around midnight.

POLICE SEEK CLUB CCTV FOOTAGE

Police have sought CCTV footage from the club to establish the sequence of events and movements of the accused during the night.

A notice has been served on Empire Club Bar and Lounge directing it to hand over the DVR data for the date of the incident. Investigators are expected to examine the footage to determine when the accused arrived at the club, how long they stayed and when they left.

According to the information provided to the police, the group remained at the club through the night and left after 6 am.

After leaving the club, the accused headed towards Golf Course Road, where they encountered Sia. An altercation subsequently took place, following which the hit-and-run incident occurred.

POLICE QUESTION OTHERS IN VEHICLE

Gurugram Police has also served notices to two other people who were present inside the vehicle at the time of the incident.

The questioning of the two individuals is expected to help investigators establish what happened inside and outside the vehicle before and after the altercation.

A decision on seeking further custody of the Bainsla brothers will be taken after the questioning of the other two accused, police said. If questioning leads to new evidence or facts requiring further investigation, the police could approach the court seeking additional custody of the brothers.

The police may also seek to question the Bainsla brothers, together with the other accused, if investigators find that their statements need to be confronted with the evidence or accounts provided by the others.

The accused were produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody for 14 days. Lalit Bindal, the lawyer representing the accused, confirmed the development.

The next hearing has been fixed for October 1, when the court is expected to take up further proceedings in the case.
