Two cousins were killed in a hit-and-run incident in Delhi after they were returning home from watching an IPL match between Delhi and Bengaluru. The accident took place on Ashok Road around 10:30 pm on Friday night.
The victims, identified as Yagya and Abhav, were travelling home on a motorcycle when an unidentified vehicle allegedly hit them. Moments before the crash, Abhav had spoken to his father and informed him that they would reach home within half an hour.
According to police, the impact of the collision threw both men off the bike. They were rushed to a hospital, but doctors declared them dead on arrival.
Police have launched an investigation and are scanning CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the vehicle involved. Officials said the case appears to be a hit-and-run incident based on preliminary findings.
In another hit-and-run case from Delhi reported earlier this year, a 23-year-old man was killed by a minor who was reportedly behind the wheel and shooting reels just before the incident.
The minor, who was later caught, did not have a driving licence and was sent to an observation home by the Juvenile Justice Board. However, he later received interim bail to appear for his Class 10 board examination.
