Hyderabad man chased, hacked to death on busy road, attackers flee

A 35-year-old cloth merchant was hacked to death in broad daylight by a group of unidentified assailants in Hyderabad's Saidabad area on Tuesday, in a brutal attack that was witnessed by several bystanders and captured on mobile phones.

The victim, identified as Fasi Ahmed, also known as Amer, was a resident of Singareni Colony. According to police, he had recently returned from Mumbai when he was attacked.

Armed with sharp-edged weapons, the assailants allegedly chased Fasi Ahmed on a busy road under the Saidabad Police Station limits before repeatedly attacking him. They fled the scene immediately after the assault, leaving the victim critically injured.

Videos of the incident, recorded by onlookers, have surfaced on social media. The footage shows several people witnessing the attack without intervening, triggering debate over public safety and bystander response during violent crimes.

Following the incident, Yakutpura MLA Jaffar Hussain visited Osmania General Hospital, where doctors declared Fasi Ahmed brought dead.

Police shifted the body for a post-mortem examination and completed the required legal formalities before handing it over to the family.

Fasi Ahmed is survived by his wife and eight children. His death has left family members, friends and residents of the locality in mourning.

The incident has sparked outrage among local residents, who have demanded increased police patrolling, tougher action against anti-social elements and a stronger crackdown on violent and drug-related crimes.

Police have registered a murder case and launched a manhunt to identify and arrest the attackers. Investigators are examining CCTV footage and videos recorded by eyewitnesses to establish the sequence of events and identify those involved.

The motive behind the murder is yet to be established, and further investigation is underway.
