Republican JD Vance and the Democrat Tim Walz will meet on October 1 in New York City, a popular place for fundraising amongst political candidates to raise funds.

Both candidates will look to make holes in each other’s agenda and promote the message of their respective presidential candidates as the race for the White House heats up. The November 5 presidential election is bound to be exhilarating with multiple polls showing a tight race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump.

Norah O’Donnell of the CBS Evening News and Margaret Brennan from CBS’s Face the Nation will be our guides through the debate as they moderate the two candidates and make sure the information shared is accurate.

Here is a guide to the debate:

WHEN & WHERE TO WATCH

The vice-presidential debate is scheduled to be hosted by CBS News and the 90-minute event will commence on October 1 at 9 pm EDT, which for the Indian viewers is going to be an early morning 6:30 am start.

The debate is being held in New York City, a place that has historically leaned Democrats' way, but Trump is hell-bent on altering that trend. On the other hand, Harris has decided to skip the customary Al Smith dinner, an annual white tie event held in New York City to raise funds for charities helping children.

As for where to watch, CBS is planning to air the event live on its broadcast network, while also airing it on platforms like CBS News 24/7 and Paramount+

THE CANDIDATES

Tim Walz and JD Vance are bound to give an entertaining performance, being seasoned politicians in one of the biggest democracies in the world.

Walz is the Democratic nominee, who has been standing beside Harris and working the crowd, shoring up votes, especially in the battleground states.

Vance, too, has been going to and fro around the country, speaking to voters and getting their votes.
