Three children drown while bathing in pond in Delhi golf course

Delhi Police said the children's clothes were found outside the pond, suggesting they may have entered the water to bathe. Bodies were recovered with the help of the fire department.

Three children aged between eight and 10 years drowned in a DDA pond inside the Golf Course premises in Delhi’s Dwarka on Thursday morning, police said.

According to officials, a PCR call reporting the incident was received at the Sector 23 police station shortly after 7 am, after which the Station House Officer (SHO), along with other staff members, immediately rushed to the scene.

Upon reaching the location, police teams found the three children submerged in the pond, following which all of them were recovered from the water with the assistance of fire department personnel, officials confirmed.

Their clothes were discovered lying outside the pond, leading investigators to suspect that the children may have entered the water to bathe before accidentally drowning, the police added.

The incident took place at the pond inside the golf course premises in Dwarka's sector 24.

Authorities said efforts are currently underway to establish the identities of the children and trace their families, adding that no missing persons report matching their description has been filed in the area so far.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, while forensic teams have been called to the spot to collect and analyse evidence.

Police further said that the investigation is ongoing to determine the exact circumstances that led to the drowning.
