A 20-year-old Mumbai woman has accused her boyfriend of concealing his identity and religious background to enter into a relationship with her and later sexually assaulting her on the pretext of marriage after drugging.

Based on the woman's complaint, the Mumbai Police have registered an FIR against the accused, Arif Sheikh, who introduced himself to her as "Shiva Rathod".

According to the complaint, the Hindu woman working as a telecaller at a company in Chembur met the accused in January 2025. She alleged that he introduced himself as "Shiva Rathod" and subsequently proposed marriage to her.

The woman told police that the accused allegedly did not disclose his actual name or religious identity. According to the FIR, after their relationship developed, the accused began taking her to different places and allegedly established physical relations with her after assuring her that he would marry her.

However, according to the complaint, she later learned that the man's actual identity was Arif Sheikh. Following the revelation, the two had an argument, according to her statement.

She alleged that the accused subsequently tried to persuade her to continue the relationship and made various assurances to her. The woman further stated that despite the dispute over his identity, the accused allegedly continued to maintain a relationship with her.

In one incident described in the woman's complaint, the accused allegedly took her to a lodge and gave her something to eat, describing it as 'prasad'.

The woman alleged that she became unconscious after consuming it. She further alleged that the accused sexually assaulted her while she was unconscious.

According to the complaint, after regaining consciousness, she allegedly noticed blood in the room and questioned the accused about what had happened.

The woman further alleged that after the incident, the accused gave her a tablet and told her that it would prevent her from becoming pregnant.

The FIR also mentions another alleged incident in which, according to the complainant, she again experienced a state of unconsciousness.

The complaint further alleges that the woman was introduced to some members of the accused's family. According to her statement, she was told that if she wanted to marry the accused, she would have to convert to Islam.

The woman told police that she opposed these demands. She alleged that the situation subsequently turned darker, with the accused allegedly threatening and blackmailing her using photographs and videos.

According to the FIR, the accused allegedly threatened her in an attempt to make her continue living with him. She also alleged that threats were made against members of her family.

The woman told police that she eventually attempted to distance herself from the accused because of his conduct. However, according to her complaint, he continued to follow her and threaten her.

The case was registered by the Mumbai Police on the basis of the woman's allegations. The allegations are contained in the complaint and FIR, and their veracity will be established through the course of the investigation.
