A Thar plunged into a drain in Haryana's Sonipat after the driver lost control of the vehicle, leaving him injured. He was rescued by the locals and rushed to a hospital for treatment.

According to eyewitnesses, the man lost control of the car near a police checkpoint. As a result, the Thar veered off the road and fell directly into the drain.

Locals said that the water level in the drain was very low at the time of the accident. This, they stressed, prevented the incident from turning fatal.

Since the car did not submerge completely in the water, Deepak got the opportunity to escape. He was pulled out by the people present at the scene and administered first aid before being rushed to a hospital.

Doctors have confirmed that his condition is stable. Police reached the spot soon after receiving information about the incident and carried out an inspection.

The Thar was eventually recovered from the drain with the help of a crane. The police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. Preliminary information suggests that Deepak had left home for an important errand when the accident took place.

The car belongs to his cousin, the driver's uncle told reporters. It was badly damaged in the accident.

Meanwhile, locals urged the administration to strengthen safety measures along the road, including better barricading and clearer warning signs, to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
