A woman gave birth to twin girls on the road outside Amethi railway station after sudden labour pains. One newborn developed complications and was referred to the district hospital for treatment.

A woman gave birth to twin girls on the road outside Amethi railway station in Uttar Pradesh after going into labour shortly after getting off a train, officials and locals said.

The woman was travelling with her husband from Badshahpur to visit relatives when she arrived at Amethi railway station on the Kashi Vishwanath Express. Soon after getting off the train, she developed severe labour pain and her condition began to worsen.

With no time to reach a hospital, her husband and local residents rushed to help her. The woman subsequently delivered both babies on the road outside the station, following which a crowd gathered at the spot.

ONE NEWBORN REFERRED TO DISTRICT HOSPITAL

Locals informed the emergency services, following which an ambulance reached the spot. The woman and her twin daughters were taken to a hospital, where they are undergoing treatment under medical supervision.

One of the newborns reportedly developed complications after the delivery took place on the roadside and was referred to the district hospital for further treatment.

The woman's husband said they were travelling to a relative's house when his wife suddenly went into labour.

"We were travelling for work and were going to visit our relatives. My wife gave birth to the babies on the road, after which we came to the hospital. She and the children are undergoing treatment," he said.
