Chhattisgarh PSC postpones State Service 2025 interviews 4 days before start

The Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission has postponed document verification and interviews for the State Service Examination-2025. The move comes amid Opposition demands for greater transparency in evaluation and shortlisting.

The Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission has postponed the document verification and interview process for recruitment under the State Service Examination-2025, four days before it was due to begin. In a notice issued on Wednesday, the commission said the process had been deferred due to "unavoidable circumstances" and that fresh dates would be announced on its official website.

The recruitment drive is for 265 posts across 20 departments of the Chhattisgarh government. The document verification and interviews were scheduled to be held from September 20 to October 1, and candidates have been asked to regularly check the commission's website for the revised schedule.

The commission did not give any reason for the postponement beyond citing "unavoidable circumstances". The State Service Preliminary Examination 2025 was held on February 22, 2026, at district headquarters across Chhattisgarh. The State Service Main Examination was later conducted at designated centres in Ambikapur, Bilaspur, Durg, Jagdalpur and Raipur.

POSTPONEMENT COMES AMID GREATER TRANSPARENCY

The postponement comes amid demands from the Congress for greater transparency in the evaluation and shortlisting process. Former chief minister and Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel had sought postponement of the interviews until issues raised by candidates were addressed.

Baghel had demanded publication of answer sheets before the interviews and free copies of evaluated answer sheets for all candidates, including those who were not shortlisted. He also sought laid-down criteria for evaluators, release of model answers for the mains examination, re-evaluation of answer sheets, and adherence to a 1:3 ratio for shortlisting candidates for interviews.

The Congress has alleged discrepancies in the evaluation of answer sheets and questioned the number of candidates shortlisted for the interview stage. The ruling BJP has rejected the allegations, saying the commission has prescribed minimum qualifying marks and that evaluation is carried out by subject experts while keeping candidates' identities concealed. The revised schedule for document verification and interviews will be announced by the commission on its official website.
