Madhya Pradesh cop rapes policeman's teen daughter, colleague keeps watch

Two Madhya Pradesh policemen have been arrested after one of the constable allegedly raped a 17-year-old Dalit girl in Bhopal by luring her with a fake invite, while his colleague allegedly acted as a lookout.

A Madhya Pradesh Police constable allegedly lured a 17-year-old Dalit girl to a house in Bhopal on the pretext of inviting her to his daughter's birthday party and raped her, while his colleague stood guard outside with his three-year-old son, police said on Friday.

According to the police, the main accused, Santosh Sen, who is employed in Madhya Pradesh Police Special Task Force, allegedly contacted the teenager on July 22 using an acquaintance's mobile phone and invited her to what he claimed was his daughter's birthday party.

The girl reached near Lal Parade Ground around 6.30 pm, where Sen and his colleague, Jitendra Rajput. were waiting in a car with Rajput's three-year-old son, said Jahangirabad police station SHO Rajan Singh Ahirwar.

Police said Sen gained the girl's trust before taking her to a house in the MP Nagar area, where he allegedly raped her.

During the incident, Rajput remained outside the house with his son and kept watch. The police also said that Rajput had arranged the car used to bring the girl to the location.

The teenager later informed her family about the incident, following which a complaint was lodged. According to a report in The Times of India, the survivor, who was allegedly abducted and raped, is the daughter of a police personnel.

Police initially registered a Zero FIR at Kamala Nagar police station before transferring the case to Jahangirabad police station for further investigation.

"The accused were arrested on Thursday and will be produced before a court today," SHO Ahirwar said. A Zero FIR is registered irrespective of the police station's territorial jurisdiction and is later transferred to the police station

Santosh Sen, who has recently shifted to Dhar district from Bhopal, has been arrested and booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

His colleague, posted in Gwalior district, has also been arrested and booked under the same laws, except for the rape charge, for aiding the offence.
