A staff member at a private school in Ahmedabad has been suspended and detained for questioning after the parents of a primary school student allegedly reported their child being sexually abused inside the school's washroom.
The incident came to light after the student of a private school in South Bopal returned home and told his parents about the alleged misconduct by a school employee. The parents immediately approached the school management with the complaint.
Acting on the allegation, the school suspended the accused staff member with immediate effect and informed both the police and the education department. Police have launched an investigation into the matter and taken the accused employee into custody for questioning.
According to the school, the accused worked as a housekeeping staff member responsible for cleaning duties and had been associated with the institution for the past three years along with his family. The school management said no previous complaints had been received against him.
The school trustee said the institution decided to alert the police immediately after hearing the complaint from the child's parents, considering the seriousness of the allegations.
Police are investigating the allegations.
